Discussion two | COVID-19: What now. What next.

Series overview

Interactive conversations in KPMG LLP's series What now. What next.

Let’s talk. As the world heads into uncharted territory, business leaders are navigating the impacts of COVID-19. Now is the time to discuss the new reality.

With an agenda shaped by your input, we're meeting each week to address the business-critical challenges brought on by this pandemic. KPMG is actively connecting with the market to share leading perspectives from hundreds of clients around the world. Join us for this series as we talk through the most pressing issues and solutions we’ve heard from executives, governments and other regulators.

Topics for the April 8 discussion were based on recommendations by participants in the April 1 discussion.

Legislative impact on the workforce

Organizations are now making important, and often difficult, decisions about the type and amount of talent they need versus what they can afford. We also covered state and federal legislation, taxation, and economic stimulus packages.

Supply chain operation and tax choices to consider

Organizations’ COVID response teams are making rapid and critical decisions related to all aspects of the value chain. Our discussion provided key inputs and considerations to help teams understand how some companies can generate both short and long term benefits (e.g. additional cash, risk reduction) by optimizing the tax effects of their operational initiatives.

Cash management: The new daily routine

Cash management is now a daily activity that relies on the ability to gather information and make the decisions necessary for immediate cash forecasting. We discussed how far out to plan, the key areas and questions to consider, and how to put plans into action.
