Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) has been increasingly at the top of the corporate agenda, driven by boards, regulators, and C-suite decision makers—with noted acceleration resulting from pandemic impacts. The lack of consistent, reliable data sources to fuel data-driven decisions has been on full display. The relative difficulty in obtaining ESG data in fluctuating volumes, varieties, and velocities will require specialized technology, significant ingenuity, and plenty of chief data officer (CDO) innovation.
